— The Centre for Dance Artistry announced that Ingrid Brevig has been accepted into the world renowned School of American Ballet.

The School of American Ballet is the training facility to the New York City Ballet. The school holds auditions in the spring for the following winter term.

Ingrid Brevig, a Sparta resident, was one of many children who attended the audition last spring. Her mother, Maria informed the artistic directors at The Centre for Dance Artistry that Ingrid had been accepted into the program.

The directors of the local school spotted Ingrid's potential and talent from the first class.

"We of course are so happy and excited for Ingrid and her family to be embarking on such a spectacular ballet education. It is always hard to see students move on, especially when it happens as quickly as it did with Ingrid. We hope this journey will lead her to a life of ballet and culture that the School of American Ballet can provide. We are so proud of her," said Pamela Sorensen and Michelle Toale, Centre for Dance Artistry directors.

Maria Brevig, who also studied dance, has been appreciative to the Centre for Dance Artistry. She said that when Ingrid adjusts to her new SAB schedule, they hope to enroll her in some extra classes at the Centre for Dance Artistry.

"Ingrid absolutely loved the fun and positive environment at CDA. The small class size and talented teachers allowed her to learn so much and build a great foundation for dance," Maria said.

The Centre for Dance Artistry is located at 172 Woodport Rd. in Sparta.

They have classes for all ages and are currently accepting fall registration. The class schedule can be found on their webpage www.thecentrefordanceartistry.com.

Classes begin Sept. 8.
