SPARTA — The Planning Board recently approved the first phase of the future North Village at Sparta. The site will be comprised of four commercial buildings, including a ShopRite and ShopRite Liquors, along with two other buildings that have been approved for commercial use with residential housing on the second floors. Last week the Planning Board also approved a subdivision for 92 residential buildings on the site.

North Village will be located on Route 15 on the northbound side between Houses Corner Road and the Railroad and White Lake Road. The site was previously the old Sanford Farm, which is now mostly cornfields.

There will be two entrances to the property; one which will be off Route 15 and the other off White Lake Road before the soccer fields.

The project will be done in phases over the next few years. Each phase must meet Planning Board and zoning approval.
