Robert Diabo
Robert "Bob" Diabo, 78. years passed away on December 23, 2017. A Sparta resident, he was born in Brooklyn, NY. Bob spent his summers in Kananaka, Canada. He was a distant cousin of Esther Deer, Lake Mohawk's Princess White Deer to whom White Deer Plaza on Lake Mohawk is dedicated. St. Kateri Tekawitha, the Mohawk woman and Roman Catholic saint, after whom the Sparta church is named, was also a distant native American relative. St. Kateri and Bob belonged to the same Native America reservation in Kananaka.
Bob was an accountant. He also spent 30 plus years as a stagehand at Broadway playhouses and Radio City Music Hall. He was a Navy veteran, a proud member of the Sparta Senior Olympics and a 10,000 steps a day walker. He is survived by his wife Gloria and daughter Jennifer of New York City.
