Robotics team aims to help seniors


SPARTA — On Oct. 24 The Sparta Middle School sixth grade robotics team visited the Barn Hill Nursing home as part of their research for this years Senior Solutions FLL project.
The team has built a robot and is programming it to complete the assigned missions in preparation for the competition.
In addition to the robotics competition the teams must research an innovative solution to problems that seniors face.
One of the boy's grandmother, a resident at Barn Hill, hosted the boys on a tour of the facility and answered their questions.
The team is researching a robotic-assisted elbow joint that will help seniors lift objects.
The FLL Qualifying competition will be held on Dec. 1 at the Lafayette Middle School.
The sixth grade team consists of Jacob Corter, Jack Maldonado, Patrick McGurrin, George Mysh, Hunter Roggero and William Theilacker.
