Film 'Beautiful Boy' at NewtTon Theatre

The film "Beautiful Boy" will be shown at the Newton Theatre at 7 p.m. on Nov. 19 and Nov. 20.
After writing a very poignant and powerful bestseller about a father and son’s journey through addiction and recovery, David Sheff’s book, “Beautiful Boy,” is being brought to life on the big screen. With Steve Carell as the father, Beautiful Boy has embraced moviegoers by their hearts, offering a walk in the shoes of a family within a struggle that so many are currently making their way through. Without graphic drug use, the movie relays the more intimate, emotional and hidden undercurrents of how parents and families agonize, wondering how loved ones get to a point where their drug use is on the verge of destroying them all and, at the same time, overwhelmed helping everyone survive. If you are one of many in the midst of helping a loved one seek or sustain recovery, this real-life drama will leave you feeling heard, supported and accepted. Understanding that we have neighbors, family and friends who need and deserve the same amount of empathetic consideration that others receive when going through any health crisis also comes across vividly while viewing Beautiful Boy.
Meet with others who are recovery-friendly at the Newton Theatre on Mon., Nov. 19 and Tues., Nov. 20 where local non-profit agency, the Center for Prevention and Counseling, Newton, will provide an introduction along with a brief overview of available free local treatment and recovery supports available to everyone in our area. Newton Theatre box office opens at 6PM where Recovery Coaches will be welcoming moviegoers and the film will begin at 7PM.
