SUSSEX The world of community theatre is often a family affair, from parents helping out with costumes and set to kids volunteering as ushers to help you to your seat. Cornerstone Theatre’s production of Annie Jr. opens this Friday, July 15 at 8 p.m. The show, which touts famous songs like “Tomorrow” and “Hard Knock Life”, is being directed by Jana Byrnes. Byrnes is a student at Centenary University, in her senior year, studying Musical Theatre. The production of Annie Jr. marks her directorial debut, as Byrnes is usually found on stage performing. For this production, Jana is joined by her mother and sister, Kara, as the three act as director, choreographer and musical director of the show.

The teenagers in the show comprise the adult roles in the cast, including Kyle Penny as Daddy Warbucks, Vivienne Diaz as Miss Hannigan, Sabina Kunze as Grace, Alexander McCully as Rooster and Hailey Minter as Lily. The orphans are double cast, allowing for more opportunity for area children to be involved in the show. The two Annies cast are Sadie Donnelly and Danielle Penny.
