The work of artist Trixi Schmid is on display from 5 to 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays at George Segale Studios, 14 Winona Parkway, Sparta.
The artist, who recently retired and is a new grandmother, will attend the exhibit’s grand opening at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12.
Schmid was inspired by her German father, an avid photographer and filmmaker. She began drawing at age 10 and took art classes in middle school.
Her style, described as “modern impressionism,” is characterized by the use of bright colors, a contemporary twist on traditional impressionism.
For almost two decades, she has been known for her acrylic paintings on canvas, featuring a variety of subjects from serene landscapes and lively wildlife to expressive masks and abstract portraits of people.
Schmid also is an accomplished seamstress and clothing designer.
Editor’s note: Trixi Schmid is the mother of Carlos Davidson.
