Arts grant workshop set for Thursday

    Newton — The Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council is accepting applications from all Sussex County visual and performing arts groups as well as from other non-profit organizations planning an arts project. Applicant non-profit organizations must be 501-C-3 certified, as determined by the IRS and be governed by a board of directors this is responsible for policy and finance decisions. They must also comply with certain federal regulations and have a one-year track record of programs and services. Municipalities, schools and libraries may qualify. Eligible organizations should appoint a member of their board of directors (usually the treasurer) to attend the Arts Grant Workshop on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Arts Council office at 133 Spring St., Newton. Someone from the applicant organization must attend the workshop in order for the organization to be eligible to receive funds. Call the Council office at 973-383-0027. The application deadline is Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. Grants will be awarded for general operating support for visual and performing arts groups and for special projects presented by non-arts organizations. To properly prepare for the workshop, the grant applicant’s board should discuss in advance details of how the organization would use a grant.
