Local bands do Stanhope House St. Patrick's Day weekend
STANHOPE — It will be the veterans and the newbies representing Sussex County in a star-studded show on their home turf St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
That’s the Shockenaw Mountain Boys, featuring members of Railroad Earth, and The Outcrops who will perform Sunday, March 18, at The Stanhope House.
Tickets for the all-ages show are $20 in advance through stanhopehousenj.com and $25 day of show at the renowned venue, which is located at 45 Main St., Stanhope, N.J. 07874. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the music starts at 6:30.
“Most music fans in West Jersey know of the Shockenaw Mountain Boys,” says Tom Skevin, who is producing the event. “The cool thing is that The Outcrops are the opening act, and they should not be missed.”
The Outcrops – Cassidy Rain (vocals, guitar), Bryan Schroeder (lead guitar), Nick Nucci (bass) and Dave Guyton (drums) – are a young, up-and-coming band that is making a name for itself by playing clubs and festivals in New Jersey and in the Northeast. The latest feather in their caps is Rain and Schroeder winning the South Orange Performing Arts Center's Blues Contest.
With a break from their busy schedule with Railroad Earth, Tim Carbone (violin, guitar, vocals), Andy Goessling (multi-instrumentalist, vocals) and John Skehan (mandolin) will be making a rare appearance as the Shockenaw Mountain Boys. Former RRE bassist Johnny Grubb rounds out the lineup for the co-headliners at The Stanhope House.
In addition to the two Sussex County bands, the rest of the lineup for March 18 is:
· Co-headliner John Ginty and Friends, with special guest Marcus Randolph. Ginty and Randolph were founding members of the groundbreaking Robert Randolph & the Family Band, which put on memorable shows at Stanhope after starting out in 2001.
· The Porchistas, a “lyrically-driven porch rock band” from Montclair, have released six recordings in eight years and have been featured in The Huffington Post, The Aquarian Weekly, NJArts.net and The Star-Ledger.
“I'm looking forward to returning to the Stanhope House with all these great musicians,” says Ginty, “With Marcus Randolph in the house, and my friends in Shockenaw, this promises to be quite the jam!”
