Marshall Tucker Band returns to festival

VERNON - The Marshall Tucker Band will returns to play at the second annual “Rock, Ribs & Ridges” music and food festival on Sunday, June 12 at the Hidden Valley Club in Vernon. Officials said “Rock, Ribs & Ridges” features two full days of music where fans and casual music lovers can enjoy an outdoor concert setting at the base of the ski resort and its natural amphitheater. Marshall Tucker’s blend of rock, country and jazz helped establish the Southern rock genre of the 1970s. Featuring extended instrumental passages, they gained recognition through a tour with the Allman Brothers and found significant success during the '70s with most of their albums going gold. One of their top singles is “Heard It in a Love Song.” Other hit singles include “Fire on the Mountain,” and “Can’t You See.” Marshall Tucker Band enjoyed success at the early volunteer jams and has continued to write, record and tour around the world, playing at least 150 shows each year. The band has earned seven gold and three platinum albums with four hit singles on Billboard’s country chart and one on Billboard’s gospel chart. The Marshall Tucker Band joins a two-day lineup of bands that includes .38 Special, The Outlaws, and Blackberry Smoke. Festival attendees can enjoy the music relaxing on a blanket or lawn chair at the bottom of the ski slope or choose VIP options which include reserved seats or watching from the Lodge and patios. There will be a juried rib cook-off, which features award-winning offerings from renowned chefs and local rib cooks who will compete for thousands of dollars in prize money and the titles of “Best Ribs” and “Best Sauce.” Festival-goers can vote for a “People’s Choice” award. Additional food and adult beverages will be available throughout the festival grounds.
