Octoberfest to benefit The Jamie Turton Fund
Jefferson - Family and friends of Jefferson Township resident Jamie Turton will host an Octoberfest fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 29 at Ridge Park on Ridge Road (between Schoolhouse and Russia Roads) in the Milton/Oak Ridge section of Jefferson Township. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a wristband admission of $5 per person at the gate. It will be an exciting day with carnival games, hourly events, food and treats, and a Halloween Costume Contest. The activities are geared for children ages two to 12. For details, call 973-208-0162. Jamie is a 2002 graduate of Jefferson Township High School. In August of 2006, while 7 1/2 months pregnant, she was diagnosed with Leukemia; and on August 20th, she delivered a healthy baby boy and began chemotherapy. Jamie has already received numerous blood transfusions and is expected to receive many more along with a bone marrow transplant.
