Poet Penny Harter at Jefferson Library April 4

Oak Ridge - April is “National Poetry Month” and the Jefferson Public Library will celebrate with a poetry reading by Penny Harter at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 4, at the library, located at 1031 Weldon Rd. in Oak Ridge. Harter has published 16 books of poems, the most recent of which are Buried in the Sky and Lizard Light: Poems from the Earth. She is known for both longer poems and haiku, and has received the William O. Douglas Nature Writing Award in addition to awards from the N.J. State Council on the Arts, the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, the Haiku Society of America and the Poetry Society of America.\ Harter’s work appears in numerous anthologies and literary magazines worldwide and has been translated into many languages.
