Skylands Stadium, North Jersey’s newest event venue and home to the Sussex County Miners professional baseball team, today announced that during the month of February it will host an exciting new attraction called Frozen in Ice, the stadium’s first-ever ice sculpture extravaganza, with 100 tons of breathtaking, sculpted displays that will thrill both children and adults.

“Frozen in Ice celebrates the beauty and elegance of winter, with awe-inspiring exhibits and ‘cool’ activities for the whole family. Bring the kids and let them slide down the huge 50-foot-long ice slide, tour an ice cabin, and take a selfie while sitting on a giant-sized throne,” said Al Dorso, President of Skylands Stadium. “There will also be a gold-mine maze, featuring old-fashioned gold miners as well as Miners baseball players, all sculpted in ice by the area’s leading ice sculpture artists.”

The indoor exhibit at the Skylands Stadium Event Center will also include an all-ice horse-drawn carriage, working lighthouse, carved boat, an ice bar and ice lounge complete with cocktails and wine tasting for adults. Kids and adults can test their skills at carnival games. Cupa Cabana will be serving hot chocolate, coffee, cappuccino and espresso. The stadium’s in-house caterer, wheelHouse Kitchen + Bar, will be providing hot food for the whole family.

Outdoors, visitors can check out the stadium pavilion for live ice-carving demonstrations and competitions on the weekends. Out on the baseball field, visitors can build snowmen and take a wagon ride, weather permitting. Or, visit the fire pit to make s’mores.

Frozen in Ice will take place at Skylands Stadium, 94 Championship Place, Augusta. The event is open Wednesdays through Sundays from Feb. 5 through Feb. 28, 11 am to 8 p.m. It will also be open on Presidents’ Day, Monday, Feb. 15, from 11 am to 8 pm.

Entrance is $20 per person at the door; children 3 and younger are free. Families won’t want to miss “Kids Go Free” Wednesdays. Kids Go Free tickets are available on the day of the event at the stadium box office; children must be 12 and younger, and accompanied by a paid adult (two children allowed per adult). All food and drinks are available for extra charge.

Five-dollar off discount tickets are available at Walgreens and Duane Reade stores, for use any day the event is open. Visit skylandsstadium.com/frozen-in-ice for participating locations. Or, sign up at the website for online coupons worth $5 off on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and $3 off on Fridays. For questions, call the Box Office directly at 973-940-0222.

“Bring your hat, mittens and cozy snow pants — this is the coolest event you’ll attend all year! A great way to combat cabin fever in the month of February,” said Nick Savva, Skylands Stadium director of events.

Frozen in Ice welcomes school groups on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The class trip rate is $15 per student. Contact Mr. Savva at 973-820-3460 for more information.
