Rabbi Asher Krief, spiritual leader of the Lake Hopatcong Jewish Community Center in Hopatcong, blows the shofar in front of the Holy Ark containing the sacred Torah scrolls. The rabbi will lead High Holy Day services and blow the shofar to welcome the Jewish New Year of 5766. Rosh Hashana begins on Monday evening, Oct. 3. All High Holy Day services at the Lake Hopatcong Jewish Community Center will be free of charge. The center, known as the Temple on the Lake, is located at 15 Durban Road.
