Clifton man gets 6 months in jail
NEWTON. Adam Abdelatif, 30, pleaded guilty to shoplifting and resisting arrest and admitted taking items worth more than $500 from the Franklin Wal-Mart.
Adam Abdelatif, 30, of Clifton was sentenced to 180 days in Morris County Correctional Facility and two years of probation June 2 in Superior Court in Sussex County.
He also must complete 15 days of community service, submit a DNA sample and promise not to return to the Franklin Wal-Mart.
Abdelatif pleaded guilty to third-degree shoplifting and fourth-degree resisting arrest. He admitted taking items worth more than $500 from the Franklin Wal-Mart and fleeing to prevent his arrest.
Assault, contempt
Anthony Neglia, 27, of Stillwater pleaded guilty to fourth-degree contempt, simple assault and a violation of his probation June 5..
Sentencing is scheduled for July 7.
Neglia admitted violating a provision in an order entered under the the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act of 1991 by entering the home of the victim, with whom he was ordered to have no contact, and unlawfully removing items April 15 in Stillwater.
He also admitted causing bodily injury to the victim on April 14.
Burglary, eluding
Richard Scrivani, 33, of Little Ferry pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary and third-degree eluding June 4 in Superior Court in Sussex County.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 14.
Scrivani admitted that he unlawfully entering a home in Newton on April 21 to commit an offense. He also admitted fleeing police while operating a motor vehicle on Newton-Sparta Road in Andover Township that day after having received a signal from police to stop.
Eluding, reckless driving
Abdullo Karimov, 25, of Brooklyn pleaded guilty to third-degree eluding and two motor vehicle offenses, reckless driving and no insurance, on May 22.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 13.
Karimov admitted that on June 16, 2021, while operating a motor vehicle on a street or highway in Sparta, he attempted to elude the township police after having received a signal to stop. He also admitted that he was driving recklessly and had no insurance for the motorcycle.
Bad checks
Fadi Taha, 43, of Elmwood Park pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree bad checks.
Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 3.
Taha admitted that he wrote two checks from a bank account knowing that the account was closed to purchase used cars.
