Sussex County has awarded three historical markers for 2022:
• Branchville Cemetery, sponsored by the Branchville Borough Historical Society, submitted by Debbie Anderson. This cemetery in the middle of town is the final resting place of several veterans.
• Sussex County Alms House and Potter’s Field, Newton, sponsored and submitted by Robert Caruso. The two fields, near each other, are the final resting place of many little-known citizens of Sussex County.
• Flatbrookville, sponsored by the Walpack Historical Society, submitted by Don Stieh. This is some of the beautiful land and buildings in the far western reaches of Sussex County.
The county will share the cost of the markers, which will be built in the next few months.
The county also will assist in their installation.
