High school student artwork to be displayed Feb. 4-27

Peters Valley School of Craft will host the annual High School Student Exhibition for its 11th year.

The exhibition will be in the Sally D. Francisco Gallery from Feb. 4 through 27, with an opening reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4.

The Gallery at Peters Valley School of Craft is at 19 Kuhn Road, Layton, and is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

This annual exhibition showcases work from local high school students in the Delaware Water Gap region, working in 2D and 3D craft media.

It will feature works from students at High Point Regional, Kittatinny Regional, Newton, Sparta, Wallkill Valley Regional, Blair Academy, Delaware Valley, Fort Lee, Randolph, Sayreville War Memorial and Watchung Hills Regional high schools.

Work ranges from ceramics, painting, photography, collage, textiles and jewelry to mixed-media sculptures.

As an educational center, Peters Valley’s mission is to cultivate the next generation of fine craft artists and supporters.

It will award one full-tuition Huber-Weyer Scholarship to the “Best in Show” and certificates for second place and third place.

Peters Valley School of Craft is a nonprofit educational center for the exploration, promotion and practice of fine craft, located in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

Its funding is provided by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, and New Jersey Historic Trust, Geraldine R.
