Man gets 12 years in prison

Steven Kristiansen, 54, of Byram Township was sentenced to more than 12 years in prison for his involvement in a drug-trafficking organization distributing methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said Tuesday, Sept. 24.
He previously pleaded guilty before U.S. Circuit Judge Stephanos Bibas to a five-count information charging him with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, distribution and possession of methamphetamine, and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.
Bibas sentenced him to 146 months in prison on Friday, Sept. 20 in Camden federal court.
According to documents filed in the case and statements made in court, law enforcement determined in January 2022 that Kristiansen was a member of a drug-trafficking organization and distributed methamphetamine.
From Jan. 14 to Jan. 18, 2022, he sold more than 60 grams of methamphetamine to an undercover police officer. On Jan. 25, 2022, search warrants were executed at his home and car and more than 50 grams of methamphetamine and ammunition were found.
In addition to the prison term, Bibas sentenced Kristiansen to five years of supervised release.
Sellinger credited special agents of Homeland Security Investigations Newark, under the direction of Acting Special Agent in Charge Spiros Karabinas, with the investigation leading to the sentence.
