Man gets 5 years in prison

Terrance Davis, 38, of Jersey City was sentenced to five years in state prison by Judge Michael Gaus in Superior Court in Sussex County on July 26.

He earlier pleaded guilty to third-degree distribution of cocaine.

An investigation in April and May 2023 by Trooper Kevin Foulds of the New Jersey State Police and Hopatcong Detective David Kraus, both members of the Sussex County Guns, Gangs and Narcotics Task Force, showed that Davis was selling controlled dangerous substances in the Newton area.

He admitted in court that he distributed cocaine in a quantity of less than one-half of an ounce.

5-year prison term

Dominick Wilson, 37, of Paterson was sentenced to five years in state prison by Gaus on July 25.

He earlier pleaded guilty to second-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.

An investigation in July and August 2023 by Foulds of the Sussex County Guns, Gangs and Narcotics Task Force found that Wilson and two co-defendants were selling drugs in the Newton area.

He admitted in court that he had more than one ounce of methamphetamine with the intent to sell it.

Scam warning

Sussex County Sheriff Michael Strada is warning residents about a scam in which they receive a phone call with the caller ID being 973-579-0850, the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office.

The caller says the resident missed their scheduled jury duty and they need to pay a fine or risk being arrested.

Strada said the Sheriff’s Office does not make these types of calls and no one in the office is named Deputy Wayne Farley.

“This scam is being committed nationwide with many falling victim. Please disregard this latest scam and hang up immediately. As always, never give out your personal information to anyone.”
