N.Y. man gets 3 years in prison
FRANKFORD. Michael Stuhler, 35, of Chester, N.Y., admitted being an accomplice to an individual who transported, possessed and sold illegal manufactured firearms.
Michael Stuhler, 35, of Chester, N.Y., was sentenced to three years in state prison by Judge Stuart Minkowitz in Superior Court in Morris County on March 19.
He also must submit a DNA sample and pay $155 in mandatory fees and penalties.
Stuhler pleaded guilty to third-degree unlawful possession of a loaded rifle.
He admitted possessing a loaded rifle under unlawful circumstances by being an accomplice to an individual who transported, possessed and sold illegal manufactured firearms.
The offense occurred May 31, 2023, in Frankford. The charge resulted from an investigation by the New Jersey State Police.
6 months in jail
Gustavo Pena, 37, of Stanhope was sentenced to six months in the Morris County Correctional Facility by Judge Michael Gaus in Superior Court in Sussex County Courthouse on March 15.
H’s driver’s license will be suspended for eight years after the date of his release. He also must complete 48 hours at the Intoxicated Driver Resource Center and pay fines and fees.
Pena pleaded guilty Jan. 4 to fourth-degree operating a motor vehicle during a license suspension and refusal.
He admitted driving with a suspended license while under the influence of alcohol. The charges were filed after an investigation by the Hopatcong Police Department.
4 months in jail
Thomas Scott, 36, of Hamburg was sentenced to four months in the Morris County Correctional Facility and three years of probation in Superior Court in Sussex County on March 22.
He also must complete a batterer’s intervention program and substance abuse evaluation and pay fines and fees.
Scott pleaded guilty to fourth-degree stalking and admitted to knowingly engaging in conduct which caused his victim to fear for her safety and cause emotional distress.
Aggravated assault charge
Anthony Alves, 42, of Pennsylvania pleaded guilty to third-degree aggravated assault March 11 in Superior Court in Sussex County.
Sentencing is scheduled for May 3.
Alves admitted causing significant bodily injury to a person who meets the definition of a victim of domestic violence.
The case was investigated by Patrolman Torres of the Newton Police Department.
