Design society elects Brennan

Teaneck - Mary Brennan owner of M Brennan Design Associates, West Milford, was elected president-elect of The New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers at its recent board meeting. Other 2009 officers elected were: Karen Topjian, owner of MCM Designs, Englewood, president, and Benjamin Slack, Vice President of Major Mills in Clark and an NJASID Industry Partner, financial director. Other board members and their responsibilities are: Sharon Draznin, owner of Sharon Draznin Interiors, Short Hills, membership director; Gwen Nagorsky, owner of Directions in Design Long Valley, communications director; Sharon Sherman, owner of Thyme & Place Design, Wyckoff, professional development director; and Diane Evans, owner of Evans Design Group, Westfield, member-at-large. Montclair resident Tammy Bolden, an interior design student at Keane University student was elected student representative to the board. Gale Youngworth, owner of Youngworth Design, Montclair and a past-president of ASID-NJ Chapter has been appointed parliamentarian. The New Jersey Chapter of ASID includes more than 1,100 interior designers, industry partners, educators and studentsall committed to interior design. Its parent organization, the American Society of Interior Designers, is the oldest and largest professional association for interior designers. Its more than 40,000 members engage in a variety of professional programs and activities through a network of 48 chapters throughout the United States and Canada. Interior designers qualify for professional ASID membership through education, advanced technological training and design expertise.
