FREDON — USA Swimming named local Fredon resident Sarah Slepian to its Eastern Zone Select Camp to be held May 19-22 at Penn State University. The camp’s purpose is to identify and develop top swimming talent across the nation. Sarah, an 8th grade student at Kittatinny Regional High School, was selected on the basis of her total IMXtreme score of 3908, which was the top score in the entire Eastern Zone covering Maine through Virginia for her age. The IMXtreme score assigns a specific point total to each time achieved in six different grueling swim events. In February, Sarah competed and finished with top billing in her age group in the USA IMXtreme Games Northeast Championships held at the Fairland Aquatic Center in Maryland, right outside of Washington D.C. Sarah trains with the Elite Swim Club which is coached by Bill Deatly out of Morristown, NJ. USA Swimming camps are opportunities for teenage swimmers to take their athletic career to the next level through an intense weekend of training, education and fun. USA Swimmers aged 12-14 are selected based on their swim times in Olympic level events.
