Ann Marie Barry of the Panther Valley Section of Allamuchy, N.J., passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, at Hackettstown Medical Center following a brief illness. She was 76.
Daughter of the late Michael and Anna (nee Conway) Byrne of Counties Galway & Tyrone, Ireland, she was born in New York City, grew up in the Bronx, and had resided in Parsippany, N.J., for 50 years before moving to Allamuchy in 2018.
Ann Marie was a graduate of Aquinas High School and attended Hunter College, both in the Bronx; a devout and active parishioner of Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church Andover Township, N.J.; and a member of the OWL’S Senior Group in Panther Valley, N.J.
Proud of her Irish heritage, Ann Marie enjoyed Irish music and dancing with her husband, Tom. On March 17, Ann Marie and Tom could always be found marching proudly in New York City at the St Patrick’s Day Parade. Ann Marie and Tom loved to travel and take cruises. She was cherished by all and known as “Nana” by everyone. Ann Marie loved her grandchildren and rarely missed their sporting events, especially ice hockey, basketball, lacrosse and soccer games. She was also a dedicated girls basketball coach for Saint Peter’s Grammar School, Parsippany, N.J.
Ann Marie is survived in life by her beloved husband of 56 years, Thomas E. Barry; children, Debra Ann Barry and David Eccles of Wanaque, N.J., Suzanne Marie Barry and John Lynch of Green Township, N.J., and Thomas Michael and Bryan Barry of Buckeye, Ariz.; her cherished grandchildren, Kevin Eccles, John Thomas, Kaitlyn, Allyson, Ryan and Brenden Lynch, and Jack, Eli and Michael Barry; and her brother Michael Byrne.
Visitation was held Jan. 29 in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, Newton, N.J. A funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 30 in Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, Andover Township. Interment followed the Mass in Good Shepherd Church Cemetery, Green Township.
