Doris Maria McAlister

Doris Maria McAlister died on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Byram. She was 80 years old.

Born and raised in the Hibernia section of Rockaway Twp., she lived throughout the world with her husband while he was in the military. They returned to Hibernia upon his retirement.

Ms. McAlister moved to North Myrtle Beach, S.C. in 1994 before returning to Rockaway Twp. in 2005. Mrs. McAlister was a homemaker. She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Rockaway.

She was predeceased by her husband, Norman Douglas Jr. in 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Colleen (Thomas) Pedersen of Stanhope; her son, Norman (Donna) McAlister III of Hibernia; siblings Paul Chewey of Hibernia and Ruth Chewey of Hibernia; two grandchildren, Brianna and Connor McAlister; and her adored great-grandson, Hunter.

Visitation was held Thursday, March 31 at the Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home in Rockaway. A funeral service was held on Friday, April 1.
