Michael J. Bernal

Michael J. Bernal of Hardyston, N.J., entered eternal rest on Jan. 22, 2022. He was 69.

He was born Dec. 19, 1952. A diehard NY Yankees and NY Giants fan, Michael served as a NJ State Parole Officer for 30 years, and worked as a Security Guard for the NJDWSC for 12 years. He was a certified baseball umpire, a member of PBA Local 600, a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church, and a great believer in the magic of Christmas!

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 39 years, Carol (Ziccardi), his son Matthew and his wife Michelle of Sparta, N.J., his daughter Chelsea of Wayne, N.J., and the apple of his eye his granddaughter Sadie Lynn Bernal.

Visitation was held Jan. 26 at Goble Funeral Home, Sparta, N.J. A funeral mass was held Jan. 27 at St. Joseph’s Church 454 Germantown Road, West Milford, NJ 07480. Interment followed at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
