Thomas Eckert, age 66, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Newton Medical Center. Born in Kearny to the late James and Mary (Mooney) Eckert, Tom lived in Harrison before moving to Sussex County in 1988. He was employed as a bus operator for New Jersey Transit in Oradell before his retirement. Tom was a member of Impact Christian Church. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Paul Eckert. Tom is survived by his son, Thomas John Eckert of Sparta; his three daughters, Danielle Da Costa of Wilmington, Delaware, Jessie Hayde of Aiken, South Carolina, and Kelly Eckert of Sparta; his brothers, James, Mark and Andrew; his sisters, Sharon, Joyce and Mary; and three grandchildren, Christopher Mihail, Shane Hayde, and Olivia Da Costa, and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Wednesday prior to the service from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
