James Storms and Matthew Kimble of Sparta graduated with Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University at Albany in May.
Samantha Fletcher, a sophomore marketing major from Sparta, was named to the Dean's List at Chestnut Hill College in PA for the Spring 2013 semester.
Molly Gilson was a recipient of the Dean's Award for academic excellence during the 2013 spring term at Colgate University, where Gilson is a member of the Class of 2014 and studies Peace & Conflict Studies. To be eligible for the Dean's Award, a Colgate student must achieve higher than a 3.30 average while enrolled in at least four courses. Gilson is a graduate of Sparta High School, and lives in Sparta.
Christopher Froehlich of Sparta graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in film and animation from RIT's College of Imaging Arts and Sciences in the spring 2013 quarter.
Chad Conner, Michael James Radeloff and Tara E O'Grady, all of Sparta, qualified for the dean's list at the University of Rhode Island for the spring 2013 semester.
Justin Tyler (J.T.) Wilson graduated from Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania this spring with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. His concentration was in public relations and he attained a minor in advertising. J.T. is employed by the Leigh Bureau, a speaker agency, in somerville.
Kendall Dmoch Fagan of Sparta has been named to the 2013 spring semester Dean's List at Syracuse University. Kendall is a graduate of Pope John XXIII Regional High School.
Theresa DeLuca graduated from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. with a B.A. in Media Studies. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, considered to be the most prestigious academic honor society in the United States. She was on the Dean�s List every semester of her college career, including achieving Dean�s List with Distinction. A 2009 graduate of Pope John High School, Theresa recently started working at NBC Universal at 30 Rockefeller Center, Manhattan, as an NBC page. The one-year post-graduate program receives over 5,000 applications every year, of which only 60 pages are selected.
Kaitlin McGuire, of Sparta, served as an orientation team leader at Susquehanna University. The orientation team is composed of upper-class students with a desire to help new students make the transition to life at Susquehanna. McGuire, a senior sociology major, is a 2010 graduate of Pope John XXIII High School. She is the daughter of Michael and Maureen McGuire.
Jeffrey Blum of Sparta is participating in Susquehanna University’s Stadium Band this fall. Membership is open by audition to all university students. Blum, a sophomore psychology major, is a 2012 graduate of Sparta High School. He is the son of Don and Jayne Blum.
Peter Jin of Sparta participated in the highly selective New Jersey Governor's School in the Sciences (NJGSS) at Drew University. The program, which ran from July 14 to August 3, introduced 85 of the state's best and brightest high school students to college-level coursework and research in the sciences, preparing them to excel in the classroom and laboratory.
Wilkes University welcomed Vincent Gallo of Sparta to the Class of 2017. Gallo is one of 617 incoming freshmen students.
Davin LaIacoma, son of Elaine LaIacoma of Stanhope and Richard Lalacoma of Stanhope, began his first year at Saint Michael's College this month. LaIacoma graduated from Pope John XXIII Regional High School before coming to Saint Michael's, which is located in Burlington, Vermont.
