Bank names student/athlete scholarship winners
FRANKLIN-Donald L. Kovach, chairman and CEO of SussexBank, has announced the winners of the bank's Student Athlete of the Year awards. Winners are college-bound high school seniors selected from nine area high schools, with each receiving a $500 scholarship from the bank. This year's winners are: Lauren Boyle - High Point Regional HS Matt Junior - Kittatinny Regional HS Mike Bardi - Newton HS Laura Maurer - Pope John XXIII Regional HS Scott Derkacz - Port Jervis HS William Dalton - Sparta HS Jonathan Trotta - Sussex County Technical School Sabrina Moran - Vernon HS Kyle Backman - Wallkill Valley Regional HS The Student Athlete of the Year is selected from a group of students from each area high school, who have been recognized throughout the school year as Student Athlete of the Month. The award was established by the bank to honor high school seniors on the basis of scholarship, athletic participation and overall contribution to their respective schools. The selection process is conducted by a group of teachers and coaches at each school. Funding of the scholarships was provided by Sussex Area Charities through funds raised by the 23rd Joe Keslo Charity Golf Outing, held May 25. In addition to the High School Student/Athlete Scholarship Winners, sussexBank provided a $1,000 grant to the Sussex County Community College Foundation, which awarded a scholarship to Patricia O'Shea.
