IN THE KITCHEN WITH: Anand Dash

He’s always running around Anand Dash is a lawyer, family man and avid runner Some people know their surroundings well, but when it comes to 31-year-old Anand Dash, Esq., he knows Sussex County inside and out literally. As an attorney with Dolan and Dolan, P.A., in Newton, he knows the county’s inner workings, and as a lifelong resident and runner, he knows its highways, byways and winding trails. Dash was born at Newton Memorial Hospital and grew up in Sparta, where he and his wife now live. Dash is a twin, and he and his brother both ran throughout high school then in college. Dash went to William and Mary, did a summer legal internship at Harvard Law School’s Legal Services Clinic and went to Villanova Law School. “I wanted to challenge myself academically and at the same time have the opportunity to improve the lives of others through the law,” Dash said. “I chose Dolan and Dolan because my roots are based in Sussex County, and the practice of law with Dolan and Dolan affords a real opportunity to serve and interact with members of the community.” Dash practices in the areas of civil litigation, trust and estates, and municipal law and said he hopes to “continually educate myself in the law in order to better serve my clients.” Dash met his wife, Ami while he was still at Villanova and she was working in Philadelphia. “I remember seeing her for the first time it was the happiest day of my life.” The couple is expecting their first child any day, and the baby girl will be named Sahana Anjali Dash, a name that originates in Sanskrit. Dash said that his running has allowed him to “balances the stresses of my professional life and has instilled in me a confidence that there are no obstacles in life that are not insurmountable. Running has also allowed me to appreciate the simple joys of life and to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. Running offers a peaceful time to meditate and reflect upon life.” His favorite running experience was the 92 mile River-to-Sea Relay with the Bears Running Club. “The Relay added a sense of solidarity and teamwork usually not found in the sport.” He also has fond memories of his first marathon, the 2001 New York City Marathon. “It was an electrifying experience as it was run two months after Sept. 11, 2001. The patriotism and support from the crowds were simply amazing.” “I am extremely lucky to have a wife and family who support my running,” Dash said. “But, as much as I am enthusiastic about running, I have never been more excited in my life than now ... I cant wait to be a father.” Anand’s Banana Bread Recipe Ingredients 3 or 4 ripe bananas, smashed 1/3 cup melted butter 1 cup sugar (can easily reduce to 3/4 cup) 1 egg, beaten 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 teaspoon baking soda Pinch of salt 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour Instructions Preheat the oven to 350°F.
