June 24 At 4:39 p.m., Sparta Police stopped a 2000 Ford van on Route 15 north 13.0 mm for a report of erratic driving. Kathleen Yackanin, age 53, Milford, Penn., was subsequently arrested for driving while intoxicated. She was issued summons for the DWI, careless driving, failure to keep to the right, and unsafe lane change. She was released pending a court appearance. June 25 At 9:28 a.m., Sparta Police investigated a two-car motor vehicle accident on Stanhope Road at the Park Road intersection. Paul Simmons II, 17, of Milford, Penn., was driving a 1997 Hyundai north on Stanhope Road when he failed to stop and rear-ended a 1990 Volvo driven by Nicole Herman, 20, Purvis, Ms., who was stopped waiting to make a left-hand turn onto Park Road. Simmons was issued a summons for careless driving. Herman was transported to Newton Memorial Hospital for complaint of neck and back injuries. Officer Marc Rubino investigated the incident. At 11:07 p.m., Sparta Police stopped a 1992 BMW on Route 181 Woodport Road for failing to maintain lane of travel. Cheryl Lawhun, 37, Sparta, was arrested for driving while intoxcicated. Lawhun was issued summons for DWI, failing to maintain lane, and careless driving. She was released pending a court appearance. June 30 At ll:20 p.m., Sgt. John Paul Beebe observed a pick up truck on Route 15 northbound near the 10-mile mark driving between 35-40 mph in the left lane. After stopping the vehicle, further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, Daniel Kitchen, 56, Branchville for obstructing traffic, unsafe lane change, failure to wear a seatbelt, failure to produce documents, careless driving and driving while intoxicated. He was later released. July 1 At 10:28 p.m., Sparta Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Houses Comer Road. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of the driver, William Bruce, 24, of Sciota, Penn. Bruce was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breathalyzer, careless driving, failure to maintain lane and consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle. He was release pending a mandatory Court appearance. July 6 At 9:19 p.m., Ptl. David Pridham observed two suspicious vehicles at the Edison Monument after dark. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old female from Sparta. She was charged with juvenile delinquency for possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released to her aunt pending a court appearance in juvenile court July 10 At 2:37 a.m., Sparta Patrolman Jeffrey Mase observed a vehicle operated by Joseph L. Dimarco, 47, Sparta, go through a stop sign at the intersection of Shawnee Trail and Alpine Trail without stopping. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Dimarco for driving while intoxicated, failure to stop and failure to exhibit documents. He was released pending a mandatory court appearance in Sparta Municipal Court. At ll:24 p.m., Sparta Patrolman Jeffrey Mase observed a vehicle operated by Parmanand Cyril, 43, Bronxville, N.Y., tailgating another vehicle while traveling northbound on State Highway Route 15. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of Cyril for driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right, following too close, speeding, failure to change address, and DWI with minor children passengers. He was released pending a mandatory court appearance in Sparta Township Municipal Court. At 1:50 a.m. Ptl. Marc Rubino and Ptl. Lewis Brown observed a vehicle operated by Craig Gilgallon, 32, Sparta, make a left hand turn from White Deer Plaza onto West Shore Trail without using his turn signal. Further investigation resulted in his arrest for driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right, being a suspended driver, failure to signal turn, careless driving, failure to exhibit documents and refusal to submit to a Breathalyzer. Additional warrants were located out of Hoboken and Jersey City for Gilgallon. Bail was posted for the warrants and he was released pending a mandatory court appearance in Sparta Township Municipal Court.
