13 scholar-athletes honored

Pass it Along saluted 13 scholar-athletes during Meet the Athlete Night on Tuesday, Feb. 25:

• Holly Sajdak of Kittatinny.

• Samanda Krauklis of Lenape Valley.

• Aaron Stone of Newton.

• Katy Miller of Pope John.

• Ella Duphiney of Sparta.

• Tiziana Maldonado of Sussex Tech.

• Chloe DeBonta of Vernon.

• Delana Einreinhofer of Wallkill Valley.

• Kiley Shatzel of Jefferson.

• Kelsey Weber of Hopatcong.

• Jennifer Jacobson of Hackettstown.

• Robert Pignotti of North Warren.

The students were recognized for their achievements in academics, athletics and volunteerism. Each received a $1,000 scholarship.

Pass it Along board member Jim Furgeson said, “I have been fortunate to be involved with this event for many years, and I am consistently impressed by the young people we meet each year.

“Not only do they excel in the classroom and on the field or court, but they are also compassionate individuals who strive to make a difference in their communities. Our future is in very good hands.”

The scholar-athletes will organize and host a Unified Basketball Tournament, where they team up with students with disabilities, at 5:30 p.m. March 12 at Sparta High School.

Tickets are available at the door. All are welcome.

Pass It Along will host a Scholar Athlete Banquet on March 19 at Lake Mohawk Country Club in Sparta.

The nonprofit organization, based in Lafayette, helps build confident, resilient and compassionate youth through self-discovery, volunteerism and leadership.
