2019 Lake Preservation Recognition Celebration
The Lake Mohawk Preservation Foundation (LMPF) to hold its 2019 Lake Preservation Recognition Celebration event on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019 at the Lake Mohawk Country Club. The Lake Mohawk Preservation Foundation holds this award celebration annually to recognize individuals and groups whose concern and involvement with preserving the quality of our lake, the headwaters of the Wallkill River, help to preserve the watershed. This year LMPF honors Ernie Hofer with the Fran Smith Award.
Hofer applied an effective blend of sustained volunteerism and in-depth professional perspective to improve the ecology of lakes and the Wallkill River Watershed. His impact has been broad across the region and state leading NJCOLA, the NJ Coalition of Lake Associations.Additional awardees include the LMCC Bridal Path Committee and the Lake Mohawk Fishing Club.
The LMCC Bridal Path Committee will be awarded the Volunteer Action Award for its commitment to recruiting volunteers for beach, trail and roadside cleanups all year and their great support to the Foundation's efforts on Earth Day. The Fishing Club will be honored with the Organizational Leadership Award. These volunteers took the lead in restocking stripers and striped bass in Lake Mohawk, two species that assist with keeping algae growth down.
“Ernie Hofer, the LMCC Bridal Path Committee, and the Fishing Club’s volunteerism and dedication to the community embody LMPF’s mission and core values,” said Bill Askin, LMPF President. “It is our deepest honor to recognize these members of our community for actively doing their part to preserve our watershed for future generations.”
Festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a silent auction. Attendees will enjoy light fare, live music, a 50/50 raffle, and a cash bar. Tickets are still available and may be purchased at lakemohawkpf.org.
