Addams Family at Sparta HS

Sparta — They're creepy and they're kooky, mysterious and spooky, they're altogether ooky, it’s the Sparta High School Production of The Addams Family. Thursday March 2nd the Sparta High School Theater Program will present its rendition of the Addams Family, a fun and contemporary production. The large cast embodies students from 9-12th grade with uncanny talent and passion for theater and the arts.
Angela Deluccia, director of The Addams Family, has been director for the past 19 musicals. “The best part about having the opportunity to direct these plays has been the amazing transformation from start to finish! And getting to work with an extremely talented group of students,” said Deluccia. But this talent doesn’t come without hard work and motivation stringing long after school hours. The audition process begins several weeks before Christmas break. Then the program has callbacks, ultimately, decisions are made based on the chemistry amongst the cast and who best fits the big picture. “We rehearse every day after school for about three hours. In the weeks leading up to the show we rehearse on the weekends as well for at least four or five hours both Saturday and Sunday,” said Deluccia.
In addition to putting on a great performance, the booster club also works to raise money during the spring musical season to support things that don’t make the budget along with helping fund the Jeff Syberg Memorial Scholarship. This particular scholarship is awarded to a deserving senior at the senior academic night in June.
“The philosophy is that the show is not about one person's talents. It's about coming together and bringing out the best in each other. Our students and faculty come together and work very hard to produce really amazing shows. Every year we fill up the auditorium for the spring musical and always receive accolades from the community. It is a great feeling for all of us to know that all of our hard work is truly appreciated,” Angela Deluccia, Director of Sparta High Schools Addams Family.
