Artists sought for opioid exhibition

— The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), New Jersey Division, the New York/New Jersey High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) in conjunction with the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey and The New Jersey Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Addiction, have once again partnered to hold an art contest/exhibit to spread the word about heroin and opioid addiction across the state of New Jersey. At the 2017 exhibit, over 50 artists displayed works depicting heroin and opioid addiction and how substance use disorder and/or recovery have affected their lives and/or the lives of their loved ones. Finalists will be invited to attend a Heroin Addiction Art Exhibition in Newark, NJ and local artists will be further honored and featured at a free Recovery Month Art Reception to be held in September in Sussex County at The Center, Newton, NJ with support from a grant through the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council. Deadline to submit artwork is July 20, 2018. Several cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honorable Mention categories.
