Classes offered in Reiki and mediatation
NEWTON — The Tree of Health Center (TTOHC) is offering its first 2018 classes in Meditation for Memory Improvement and Reiki I Certification Training.
The Alzheimer’s Association estimates 170,000 people in New Jersey developed Alzheimer’s in 2016 and that number is projected to grow 25% by 2025 (2016 Alzheimer’s Disease Facts and Figures. Alzheimer’s & Dementia 2016;12(4)). The good news is the Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention Foundation (ARPF) has shown that a very specific meditation technique improves brain function and memory loss. Their research also shows that highly stressed people can reduce their stress and improve the health of their genes by doing this meditation 12 minutes a day, making them healthier and longer lived. ARPF believes, if everyone practiced this meditation every day, it is reasonable to think that dramatically fewer people would get Alzheimer’s disease.
Debra M. Hollinrake is offering this specific meditation directly from ARPF’s positive research results beginning March 5th at 7:00 PM. This eight-week class series takes students through the steps slowly and methodically until they are confident in practicing this 12-minute meditation daily. Debra is a trained meditation instructor through the International College of Metaphysical Theology and the Modern Mystery School International. She teaches Mindfulness, Egyptian and Singing Meditation in addition to being an advanced Emotional Freedom Techniques and Life (DNA) Activation Practitioner.
Reiki results have shown in randomized clinical trials to relieve pain, anxiety, stress, burnout, side effects from chemotherapy, complications from childbirth, and discomfort for hospice patients (http://www.centerforreikiresearch.org/RRSummariesHome.aspx). Due to such positive results, Reiki is a recommended tool for self-healing and for qualified care-givers and nurses to use with loved ones or patients in day-to-day practice.
Linda Mitchell, Reiki Master Teacher, is offering Reiki Level I Certification to fulfill the demand for those looking for more ways to enhance healing within themselves and start down the path toward learning how to apply Reiki on loved ones or patients. Linda is a Licensed Practical Nurse, trained through the County College of Morris, Board Certified through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork, and a CranioSacral Therapist trained through Upledger International. She earned her Master Reiki Teacher credential through International Reiki / Seichim Master Teacher Suhail Jarroush, Ph.D., founder and director of the Reiki Center of America.
The Meditation for Memory Improvement eight-week series begins Monday, March 5th, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. The fee is $125. Reiki I Certification Training takes place on Friday, March 9, from 6:00-9:00 p.m., Saturday, March 10, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 11, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This course offers 18 CEUs for those requiring continuing education credits. The fee is $250. To learn more about these and other upcoming events, go online to tree-health.com/eventsnew or call (973) 500-8813.
