County chamber announces scholarship winners

Newton — Four area high school students were recipients of the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce scholarships for the 2016-2017 school year. The scholarships will be used to further each recipient’s education at a college, professional, technical, vocational or business school.
Shawn Huynh of Sussex County Technical School received a $1,000 scholarship. Kerri McSweeney (Kittatinny Regional High School), Dennis Phan (Sussex County Technical School), and Jaida Schettino (Sparta High School) each received $500 scholarships. The Sussex County Chamber of Commerce also contributed $500 to the Sussex County Community College Foundation to be awarded to area students attending that college. The scholarship recipients were recognized for their accomplishments at the chamber’s June breakfast meeting held at the Lafayette House Restaurant in Lafayette.
Funds for the scholarships are raised through various Sussex County Chamber events including Sussex County Day. Scholarship applications for 2017-2018 will be available in early 2017. Visit www.sussexcountychamber.org for more information or call 973-579-1811.
