East West Karate promotes 4 students

SPARTA — The East West Karate Academy of Sparta recently held its spring shiai tournament where Sensei Scott Klinger and his experienced team of black belts led the program for more than 150 students in attendance. The competition for the day focused on kumite, also known as sparring.
At the end of the program, Sensei Scott Klinger promoted Linda and Ron Peoples, Omar Ezat, and Bill Zonca to Shodan, or first-degree black belt. To reach this level, a student must train for many years and participate in competitive tournaments.
