The East West Karate Academy of Sparta recently held its annual shiai with over 150 students in attendance. The competition of the day focused on kata (also known as forms). Sensei Scott Klinger and his team of black belts led the program. At the end of the event, Sensei Klinger promoted Adam Kutner to Ni Dan, 2nd Degree Black Belt. Achievement of this rank requires years of training, commitment and participation in competitive tournaments. East West Karate Academy focuses on traditional Isshinryu karate, which was founded on the island of Okinawa.
