FloatFest returns to Lake Mohawk
SPARTA — FloatFest returned to Lake Mohawk for a day of music and community fun sparta.
Lake Mohawk hosted its popular event this past Saturday, Aug. 9.
Open to the community, the event included local music acts, a pig roast, beach bar and a beautiful day on the lake.
Bands played from the boardwalk and music could be heard from a boat on Lake Mohawk or from the sand on Beach 1.
Boaters were encouraged to anchor and listen from the lake, and beachgoers could dance on the sand or set up a chair.
FloatFest benefited the Ski Hawks, New Jersey's Water Ski Show Team.
During the event, the Ski Hawks operated a water taxi service which allowed boaters to go ashore without having to take a swim.
Over $2,000 in donations were collected to benefit the Ski Hawks team.
Sparta musician Geoff Doubleday kicked off the event with an acoustic guitar solo act. Sparta natives Deal Casino took a break from their residency in Asbury Park and brought their unique rock sound and original songs to the crowd.
Blarney Fife, got the crowd to their feet with their Irish sing alongs and classic Celtic tracks.
Almost Ghosts played summertime favorites and classic tunes with a twist. You and I, a duo, brought their twist on folk and bluegrass music to Lake Mohawk.
Captains of Leisure finished out the night with crowd favorite classics and a three-piece horn section.
MC and DJ Orlando Rodriguez kept the music playing between sets and got the crowd involved.
The musicians, bands, MC and FloatFest Committee all volunteered their time for the event.
The event was sponsored by Dr. James R. Fedich, of Village Family Clinic Chiropractic Physical Therapy, The Board Walk Club and Lake Mohawk Country Club.
