Eighth Grader Audrey Sacks of Lafayette was one of 30 kindergarten through grade 8 students to have artwork chosen for the Art Educators of New Jersey Late Winter Exhibit on display now at NJPAC in Newark.

Audrey’s watercolor “Brisk Evening” pays homage to the American artist Charles Burchfield known for his watercolors of nature scenes and townscapes.

“It is such an honor for one of our student’s to be exhibited at NJPAC,” said Head of School Peter Gordon. “Audrey is one of our many talented young artists who have found their creative voice here. Hilltop has always been a place where students feel safe to explorem create, a place to take risks and explore their artistic expression.”

Audrey is the first Hilltop student to be honored with inclusion in the AENJ Late Winter Exhibit and the second to be recognized at the state level in the last two years.

All Hilltop students from Preschool through Grade 8 take art classes in the school’s full art studio. The Hilltop Art and Art Appreciation program is designed to celebrate the creative process of each child on an intellectual, emotional, and social level through art participation and appreciation. Hilltop students enjoy a well-stocked studio with floor easels and worktables. Ceramic pieces are fired on site in the kiln.
