Hilltop launches hawk mascot

Hilltop Country Day School is proud to announce the launch of the school’s first ever mascot: the hawk.

The hawk was chosen by the students, faculty, and staff. Strong, brave, smart, proud: These adjectives describe the hawk, the magnificent bird found throughout northern New Jersey, rendering it the ideal mascot for Hilltop Country Day School because Hilltop students embody these attributes.

The new hawk logo, unveiled during Spirit Week 2016 and found on Hilltop's athletic wear and gear, suggests the forward movement and unlimited power of Hilltop's incredible community of students and alumni.

“Hilltop has a tremendous amount of school spirit,” said Head of School Peter Gordon. “We thought formalizing a mascot the entire school community can rally behind was the best way to capture that.”

The launch of the mascot also coincides with new athletic offerings for students after school such as tennis, skiing, golf, karate, soccer, and fitness classes. Gordon also plans to begin a formal sports program in the near future.

Hilltop has hired a new Physical Education Teacher to begin preparing the students for future athletic endeavors by teaching, among other things, foundational skills such as teamwork and the rules and guidelines of good sportsmanship.
