Local girl wins national magazine contest

Jack and Jill Magazine is introducing a new character this November and its creator is Ande Wittenmeier, 10, of Sparta. The nationwide magazine decided "Jill" should have a dog so they asked readers to submit their drawings, along with names for the dog and Ande was recently notified that her drawing had been chosen. "Up-Beat is an Old English Sheepdog mix." Ande explains. "I named him that because Jill wants to be a DJ." Ande hopes to become an illustrator some day.
