NEWTON — The Tree of Health Center (TTOHC) is offering its final meditation class series of 2016, Monday Meditation for Beginners, on October 24 at 7:00 p.m. Meditation is clinically proven to improve memory, mood and health, while reducing cravings and physical and emotional pain. From Harvard to Forbes to the Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention Foundation, all report that meditation is good for your health, your memory, and your overall well-being.
“If you prefer to live in happiness, peace and good health, then regular meditation is one of the best ways to get there, and stay there,” said Debra M. Hollinrake, meditation instructor and partner with TTOHC. “What often stops those attempting to meditate is they believe they cannot do it. They try, oftentimes on their own, and when they cannot get comfortable or calm their active brain, they give up. But the truth is that anyone can meditate. It just takes practice and knowing how to begin.”
In TTOHC’s 8-week class series, Debra introduces students to what meditation is – and is not – and the role of mindfulness in their daily practice. She teaches how to position yourself, breathe, relax, calm your busy brain and begin your daily practice in earnest. “I have taught hundreds of students how to meditate,” Debra said. “Without exception, those who follow through on this 8-week class series have an improved lifestyle because they have learned how to successfully begin and maintain this daily practice.”
Hollinrake is a trained meditation instructor through the International College of Metaphysical Theology and the Modern Mystery School International. She teaches Mindfulness, Egyptian and Singing Meditation in addition to being an advanced Emotional Freedom Techniques and DNA Activation Practitioner.
As the Good Witch of the North advised Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, “It’s always best to start at the beginning.” You can learn meditation from the beginning with this 8-week class series starting October 24th at 7:00 p.m. Classes continue weekly every Monday at 7 p.m. through December 19th.
