Salon Di Panache earns ambassadorship and accolades from celebrity stylist
NEWTON — Celebrity hairstylist Nick Arrojo of TLC’s “What Not To Wear” recently selected Salon Di Panache, in Newton, as one of three Arrojo Ambassador Salons in New Jersey.
Last Wednesday, he visited the salon and after touring the porch-framed Victorian home that houses it and seeing the conglomeration of animal prints, glittery chandeliers, plush antique chairs and shabby-chic style, he bestowed one of the highest compliments imaginable upon its owners.
“This is one of the most unique and wonderfully set up salons I have ever seen... and I've seen a lot of salons," Arrojo said.
Arrojo's studio is located in Manhattan's fashion epicenter of SoHo, and his line of products include everything from shampoos and conditioners to a wave mist, luxe oil, cream whip and many others. Arrojo's Ambassadors Program is a way for salons to carry his professional products, train with the Arrojo team and become anchored in their “culture of excellence and integrity.” Ambassador salons must embrace modern and creative hairdressing methods and adhere to high standards in their stylists and services.
Located on Trinity Street, Salon Di Panache opened 12 years ago and is run by Patricia and Andrew Heal and their daughters who set a high bar of standards for their services, employees' performance and products they offer. This meticulous attention to detail has paid off as the salon has a strong client base, a loyal following and now this Arrojo distinction.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have been selected,” said owner, Patricia Heal, who lives in Andover. “My daughters and I and the entire staff are so honored to have been selected by this spectacular artist.”
Her daughter, Kathy Czerhoniak, of Sparta, agreed.
“It's just tremendous and so wonderful to have him here to meet us and see our salon,” said Czerhoniak.
Heal's other daughter, Kimberly Eben, of Hampton, added, “The product line is amazing and we feature it front-and-center in our product display.”
Nick Arrojo is known for his signature razor-cutting technique and for building one of the country's leading independent hairdressing brand. Born in Manchester, England, he worked for Vidal Sassoon, Wella International and Bumble & Bumble before starting his own salon called The Arrojo Studio in 2001. This has grown to encompass Arrojo Education and the Arrojo Product Line. In addition to begin a hairstylist on "What Not to Wear" for seven years, he's had many celebrity clients.
Though he's internationally acclaimed and a hairstylist to the stars, Arrojo himself was exceptionally accessible and open with Salon Di Panache's staff and clients. He met with the staff in the morning getting to know them and asking the owners and stylists about the business and their hopes and plans for the future.
He encouraged everyone to remember why they are in this business underscoring, “What you do here is you make people happy.”
Later, he mingled with customers, meeting and greeting them and answering questions about his product line and hair styling.
Salon Di Panache offers full hair services and uses a level system to provide all needs for clients. Level systems are based on years of experience, educational advances and dedication to the field. Hair services include hair cutting and styling, hair coloring, hair perms, conditioning treatments and extensions. Other services offered include: massage, facials, body treatments, waxing, nails, makeup and permanent makeup. The mantra of the Salon Di Panache is to make clients' experiences a “graceful one,” which is a tribute not only to their philosophy but Patricia Heal's grandmother, who was named Grace.
The owners are true “daymakers” out to make those who visit beautiful in a comfortable environment.
Hairstylist Chris Rossi, who has been at the salon for seven years said, “This is an amazing place to work and being an Ambassador Salon for Arrojo is just super exciting.”
