— The residents of Knoll Heights Village, Sparta visited their Pen Pals at Franklin Elementary School in Franklin for an ice cream party on Friday, May 20. The senior volunteers have participated in a few previous visits with the students, including a Cinco de Mayo party and an Earth Day activity. Second grade teacher, Mrs. Winters, was delighted to have the visitors once again.
The Pen Pal volunteers were greeted with a note that the students made in the shape of a frog. The activities were varied and included many games and the drawing of a mural. The highlight of the visit was the ice cream party. It was a fun time and a positive learning experience for all.
