Target stores employee and Sparta parent Nick Arcuri donated a truckload of school supplies to Sparta High School out of the goodness of his heart and to promote the importance of giving back to your community.

When the offer was made to the advisors of Sparta High Schools’ Student Council, Angela DeLuccia and Tim Librrizi, a meeting was held to discuss what worthy cause should be the recipient of the supplies. After deliberating with grade level student government officers, it was decided that the junior class would donate the supplies to Tilly’s Kids.

“We decided to work with Pass It Along to provide school supplies and holiday greetings to our friends at Tilly’s Kids,” said Liam Armstrong, 2017 vice president.

The Junior Class Student Council is made up of officers Will McKenna, Liam Armstrong, Nicole Smith and Brendan Puszcz, along with their adviser Dana Miller.

The Class of 2017 officers then contacted the Sparta High School Pass it along advisers, and officers and quickly collaborated on how to make this donation even more special. The Pass It Along and Student Council officers ordered over 200 backpacks and packed the backpacks with with small gifts, donated school supplies and SHS T-shirts. The backpacks will be delivered to Pastor Tilly to distribute to those members of her organization who are in need of such donations.

“It was fantastic to see so many students show up and help out and give back to their community, especially during the holiday season. Thank you to Target, Pass It Along, and the Student Council for making this happen,” said Armstrong.
