SPARTA — On Saturday, May 19, 2012 the GFWC Junior Woman’s Club of Sparta (JWCS), together with the Sparta Parks and Recreation Department, will be hosting the 37th annual Sparta Day event.

The event will be held at Station Park off of Rt. 517 and will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.

Additional parking will be available at the Sparta High School parking lot.

Shuttle service to the event location at Station Park will be provided by the Sparta Board of Education and will be available throughout the day for attendees.

Sparta Day is a vendor/craft fair and family fun festival that has become not only a fundraiser for local charities, but also a much anticipated and widely enjoyed community event.

In addition to Kids’ Country, the JWCS anticipates over 140 vendors in the paved lot area of Station Park, live entertainment and a food and beverage area that will appeal to all attendees.

Admission is free. Some of the events this year will include a tricky tray, and a raffle for a $1,000 gift card offered by J Thomas Jewelers. Raffle tickets may be purchased before the event at J Thomas Jewelers, through the JWCS organization or during the event at the JWCS booth.

Participants do not need to be in attendance to win prizes.

For the sixth year in a row Eastern Propane will be the platinum sponsor of Kids’ Country, one of the most popular areas of Sparta Day.

This year’s Kids’ Country will include Sparta Day’s first 24-Foot rock climbing wall and free giveaway, thanks to the support of Hilltop Country Day School.

There will also be a D.J. providing music and entertainment, sponsored by The Dance Academy of New Jersey.

Children will enjoy an inflatable bounce house with free giveaway sponsored by Newton Medical Center, as well as additional rides provided by Kiddie Academy and First Hope Bank.

The Sterling Mohawk Girl Scout Troops will also be providing a variety of children’s activities throughout the day.

Due to the generosity of these local businesses the Kids’ Country activities will be offered at no cost to the community.

Attendees can pick up a Sparta Day Map that will list vendors’ locations as well as coupons from local businesses at the JWCS booth.

Rita’s Ice Guy will be distributing coupons for a Free Rita’s ice from 10 to 11 a.m. only.

All vendor spaces for this event have already been filled, however businesses or organizations interested in sponsoring an additional activity or purchasing ad space on the Sparta Day Map, can download the forms from www.jwcsparta.org or call 973-300-7309 .
