Sparta grads awarded college scholarships
SPARTA — The Saint Kateri Knights of Columbus Council of Sparta was recognized by the Paterson Federation of Knights with the 2015 Council of the Year award.
The award is given to the top knights council based on commitment to parish and community service. Grand Knight Frank Masters accepted the award on behalf of the council.
That same evening, the Paterson Federation announced the winners of its first college scholarship.
Kalin Hagedorn and Matt Rotondi, of Saint Kateri parish, were recognized by Past Federation Chairman Dennis Kendzior at the annual federation beefsteak dinner.
Both students are 2015 graduates of Sparta High School.
Hagedorn is planning on attending Belmont University in Nashville and Rotondi will be attending Virginia Tech.
Pastor Father Patrick Rice said, “I am so thankful to Kalin and Matt for their dedication to our parish and the Squires and Roses.”
