Sparta Women’s Club wins awards for service
Sparta. Sparta Women’s Club won five first-place awards and one second-place award at the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs.
The Sparta Woman’s Club met for the first time in January of 1949. Never since that beginning has there been such a challenging year for the non-profit 501(c)(3) as during this past with the COVID-19 pandemic.
But through dedication and determination our members participated via countless emails, zooms and virtual events. Collections were made and drop-offs delivered in car trunks. The community need was astounding and our responses were immediate. Because of lock-downs and restrictions, in kind items were purchased on line. Members, families, friends and the community were very generous with monetary donations and in kind donations..
The Sparta Woman’s Club was recognized for all of these efforts by the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs with five first place awards and one second place award. Evaluations were made among the state women’s clubs in the over over 60-membership category. Projects were reported statically and with narrative descriptions to the NJSFWC.
At the Highlands NJSFWC District Level 11, first-place Awards were given to the Sparta Woman’s Club. The categories for these awards were: Advocates for Children, Arts and Culture, Civic Engagement and Outreach, Communications, Educations and Libraries, Health and Wellness, Leadership. Fund raising, Domestic and Sexual Violence Awareness and Prevention, Women’s History and Special State Project-Operation Chillout.
