Ranked fourth among all New Jersey High School bowling teams, Sussex Tech Mustangs continue to bring the gold home.
The often overlooked bowlers are outranking all local and state teams ‑‑ some of the team members are headed into state championships.
The coed team recently placed first for NJAC North Division for the third year in a row.
Coach Chad Gasiorek provided the following stats:
• First place HWS Tournament 3rd year in a row and 4th year overall
• First place in the New Years Eve Tournament 3rd year in a row
• First place Falcon Freeze 2nd year in a row
• First Place in Group 2 North 1B Sectional Tournament 6th year in a row setting a school record with 3294 pins (only 20 pins from sectional record of 3314).
• NJTAC Tech Tournament: there are four Boys championships and three Girls championships.
• Group 2 State Championships for the third year in a row
• 9th in the State Finals
" This year we went 16-0 and never lost a single game . We play three games so 16 times 3 equals 48 games without a loss, never been done,” said Gasiorek. "Now I may be wrong, but I don't believe that any school in Sussex County has done that before in any sport."
The coach added that Pat Danielson, Matt Danielson, and Joey Steele are competing in the State Individual Tournament which starts on Feb.14. And Shaelyn Shadwell will be going to the State Girls Individual Tournament.
"By the way, Shaelyn is the only one from Sussex County, and she qualified number two from her sectional with a 671 which also is a school record for Sussex Tech.”
More to come from this exciting team ‑‑ Go Mustangs!
